Larry W. Backus, Executive Vice President and Shareholder with Alliance Tax Advisors, has more than twenty-five years experience in the ad valorem tax industry. He began his career in the public sector serving as the Deputy Chief Appraiser with a North Texas appraisal district giving him a deep knowledge of property tax law and processes. As a consultant, Mr. Backus has had the privilege of being awarded national assignments of some of the nation's largest REIT's, pension funds and private equity owners.

Education and Credentials

Mr. Backus earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics with an emphasis in Finance from Texas Tech University. Additionally, he has successfully completed numerous courses with the Society of Real Estate Appraisers, Appraisal Institute, and the Institute for Professionals in Taxation. He is a Registered Senior Property Tax Consultant licensed both in Texas and Arizona. Mr. Backus has earned the designation of Certified Member of the Institute (CMI). A mark of distinction, his membership represents the highest level of professional achievement in business property taxation.
